Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 7, 2026

Introduction

Impart ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Impart mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.

By using Impart, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

Information We Collect

Voice Recordings & Journal Data

When you create voice notes, milestones, or journal entries, this data is stored locally on your device and synced to your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. We do not have access to, and cannot read, your recordings or journal data. All data remains in your iCloud account under your control.

Photos & Media

If you attach photos or videos to entries, these are stored locally and in your iCloud. We never upload, access, or store your media on our servers.

Location

If you choose to tag an entry with a location, your device determines the location locally. Location data is stored only in your journal entry within iCloud. We do not collect or track your location.

Transcription

Voice recordings may be transcribed on-device using Apple's Speech framework. Transcription data stays on your device and in your iCloud. We do not send audio to external servers for transcription.

Analytics & Crash Data

We collect anonymous usage analytics and crash reports to improve the app. This may include device type, OS version, app version, and interaction patterns. This data is not linked to your identity and cannot be used to identify you.

Payment Information

Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never collect, store, or have access to your credit card or payment details.

How We Use Your Information

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored locally on your device and synced to your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit framework. All data in transit and at rest is encrypted by Apple. We do not operate our own servers for user data storage.

Family sharing is facilitated through Apple's CloudKit sharing, which allows you to control who has access to your child's journal. Shared data remains within iCloud and is governed by Apple's security practices.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Each service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Your journal data is shared only with family members you explicitly invite through the app's sharing feature.

Your Rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, you may also have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Children's Privacy

Impart is designed for parents and family members to create journals for their children. The app is operated by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Journal entries about children are created and managed by their parents or guardians.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when this policy was last revised. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
